In March 2018, FGS Glass introduced a state-of-the-art Custom Toughened Laminating Line, adding to our advanced CNC machines, high service standards, and comprehensive hardware offerings. We specialise in producing laminated glass using 5mm to 15mm thick glass, available in various substrates with interlayers such as SGP, PVB, and Vanceva. Our laminates start at 11mm in thickness and can exceed 50mm. If you need a custom thickness, feel free to ask—if it can be done, we’ll make it happen.
This laminating line is designed not for mass production but for creating bespoke, high-end, quality laminate panels. We offer a standard edge finish across all panels, but also feature our premium EDGE+ finish—a new benchmark in the Australian market. For years, the industry has struggled with subpar edgework, and FGS only entered the laminated glass market once we could guarantee superior edge quality. After partnering with a specialist in 2017, FGS now delivers exceptional edge finishes from the very first week of production.

Our team has also invested significant effort into perfecting how SGP cools and forms on corners. By leveraging this data, we’ve optimised the radius corners of our glass, ensuring the most aesthetically pleasing results that pair perfectly with our EDGE+ finish. For years, poor edge work has plagued the glass industry, but at FGS, we were determined to do things differently. We knew that if we were going to enter the glass laminates market, we had to guarantee edge work that far exceeded the competition. In 2017, we found the perfect partner to help us elevate our edge finish to an entirely new level. From the very first week, we began producing high-quality edge work that you can truly rely on, whether you’re a fabricator looking for precision or a homeowner seeking lasting quality.

Edge Plus
Edge Plus is an additional process that is taken when laminating custom toughened glass to ensure a glass like finish to the laminate material. This process can be done to either PVB or SGP laminates and makes a massive aesthetic difference to the overall look of the laminated glass. The process we use is time consuming and reduces our daily capacity, so a small charge is added per linear metre (LM) of the laminated panel. Edge Plus makes FGS Glass Laminated panels look markedly different to our competition.
SGP Corners
Not all Laminated Corners are the same, when you laminate glass, the laminate material in the corner creates a natural radius as it cool downs. SGP Corners create a nice radius effect but if the glass doesn’t match, the corner may have a step and definitely looks untidy. FGS Glass have been doing trials to see what sized radius the SGP forms once it cools. We created a sample and had 4 different radii on each of the corners. We manufactured the glass with a 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm radius. What we found was that the SGP forms a 5mm radius, so if the glass matches this radius, the result is a very pleasing aesthetic appearance.
