VueSafe 11.52 SGP Destructive Testing

FGS Glass made a test rig to test our Custom Toughened Lam to the Australian Standards. When we realised the tests were not going to be a challenge, we tried to crank it up.

The tests call for a 46kg Leadshot Bag to be swung into the Laminate from 300mm. This didn’t cause any problems, so we kept lifting the weight until be maxed out the Test Rig at a height of 1500mm. Once we realised that even from 1500mm the VueSafe stayed in one piece, we decided to score the rear pane of glass to make it break. This test caused a great fragmentation point but the front pane of glass remained in tact. So we also broke the front pane, so that only the 1.52 piece of interlayer would be active in the test. Even with both pieces of glass broken, the interlayer totally deflected the 46kg lead weight.
